OBJECTIVE: Create a promotional campaign around California State University San Bernardino’s Arts and Music Festival. The objective of this project is to introduce students to the terminology, processes and individual deliverables associated with a full scale promotional campaign. Students will be responsible for creating posters, flyers, wayfinding banners, shirts, and more. All designs must be cohesive and capture the atmosphere of the event.
PROCESS: This project started with a logo. I chose a very simple logo with a very clear typeface. The logo is surrounded by an array of outlined shapes which reoccurs throughout the promotional materials. I initially had trouble with color but finally settled on a very vibrant blue and orange with lots of grays to balance the brightness. I used geometric shapes as a running theme because it resembles the sydney opera house which is a big part of the australian art scene. My design is very universal and can be used in a variety of ways because the shapes are very easy to manipulate. This campaign took several weeks to finish but every week more items were completed and they slowly it began to form an entire event. I enjoyed working on this project because it was something that couldn’t be done in a week but had to be completed over a period of time.
