OBJECTIVE: Design a booklet consisting of Rob carter’s 19 rules of typography in its entirety. Also, include your own examples for each rule. The book must be 4.5 ” wide by 6 “ high or smaller. The book will have 24 pages including front and back covers.
PROCESS: I began this project by laying out copy text. I wanted to get a feel for the small space and how well the text could fit in such small confinements. The color palette was one of the last things chosen because there were a lot of different directions to go with color and each color said something about the book. I chose green and yellow because green is easy on the eyes and yellow is very energetic and attention grabbing. Both colors together offered a balance of being visually appealing without shouting for the reader’s attention. The most difficult part of this project was getting all the text to fit on one page. With some light tweaking and adjusting everything fit perfectly.
